Presentations and Workshops

Melanie is available to present to your group or facilitate workshops across Melbourne, Victoria. Whether you're part of a community group, healthcare organisation, neighbourhood house, service club or aged care provider, Melanie can deliver gentle, insightful and practical sessions on end-of-life topics.

  • Dying to Know Day (DTKD) is a public health campaign in Australia held annually on 8 August. It focuses on empowering individuals to be self-advocates for their own end-of-life planning, encouraging open conversations, and reducing the stigma associated with discussing death, dying, and grief.

This year’s Dying to Know Day theme, “Nobody Knows,” invites us to speak openly about our end-of-life wishes — a true gift that spares loved ones from uncertainty and stress later.

Join The Practical Doula, Melanie Cookes, at Vermont South Neighbourhood House for a relaxed morning tea with conversation, reflection and sharing as part of Dying to Know Day 2025.

Enjoy morning tea, bring your questions, stories or fears, or share something that symbolises what you’d like your own end-of-life to look like.

All welcome – no need to register.
